I went on what was probably my last visit to the Joe on December 27th with my daughters (and their guests - it was the Big Xmas Present this year) expecting to see a Wings win because they were playing Buffalo - Buffalo for Christ's sake. The pre-game included a visit by the 1997 Red Wings. All were there except Federov, which upset my daughter as he was her favorite player. They'd seen that team in their prime at the Joe in 1997. The place went batshit crazy when Konstantinov came out on the ice in his wheel chair. It was the celebration of the 20th year anniversary since the Wings snapped their 42 year Cup drought.

What a fricking contrast. I was expecting to see good hockey played by a team consisting mostly of players I'd seen develop in Grand Rapids. Instead, I saw the 1985/86 Wings. They've gotten to where they aren't even fun to watch anymore. Losing to Buffalo 4-3 at home in front of the 1997 team. What a disgrace!
