Welcome to IWETHEY!

New And the beat goes on
5/6 I get the offer for job 1, expecting to start on 5/16.

5/9 I take the interview for job 2.

5/11 I take the second interview for job 3.

5/13 I get a call from job 1 saying they didn't have the laptop and desk ready for me, so I'll be starting 5/23 ... probably.

An hour later I get the offer for job 2. (Better offer.) Projected start date 5/23 - as long as the background check comes back before then.

5/18 I get an email asking to call 5/19 to discuss the offer for job 3.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good problem to have. But damn, people, you've got to get me in the door if you want me to stop talking to other people.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New And the fat lady sings! :)
Alex

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

-- Isaac Asimov
New Sounds like the old adage really is true...
...A bird in the hand *IS* worth two in the bush.

Congrats on your good fortune.

@MikeVitale42

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin, 1759 Historical Review of Pennsylvania
New Are these written offers?
That qualifies as "getting you in the door", in my book.

If it's just verbal, then yes, it's not worth the paper it's written on.
New Not cynical enough
Ohio is a "right to work" state. If you're not up to date with the Orwellian/American translator, that means employers can terminate employees at any time for any reason, or no reason. And that's after you're working for them.

As far as I'm concerned, "in the door" means in the door.
