Further to the Cuban Mistress Crisis
I am of course attempting to keep my confirmation bias in check, so an asterisk should accompany this interesting information(?)—well, OK, a set of interesting contentions—to the effect that the Enquirer is feeling pretty confident that they're onto the real deal. The linked source is an outfit called "The Conservative Treehouse." I know that the main body of establishment GOP thought, to the extent we can still speak of such a thing, is slowly and with an audible lack of enthusiasm reconciling itself to a tepid endorsement of Senator Slime over the Vulgar Talking Yam, but Cruz is so deeply loathed by so many that I think there must be an influential minority of insider media rainmakers/ratfuckers who would be grimly happy should the charmless Cubano's political career be among the charred corpses to be carried out of the smoking ruins of the Quicken Loans Arena this summer. Cruz glowers at his foes and snarls “You’ve got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya, punks?” They in turn exchange glances and nod their heads emphatically. I tell you, scorpions in a bottle ain't a patch on these guys. gleefully,

Re: The Cuban Mistress Crisis
Superb word play there! :)
Alex
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

Re: The Cuban Mistress Crisis
Wish I could claim entire credit for it, but the praised wordplay appears to have occurred more-or-less spontaneously and simultaneously to hundreds, and I have already spotted senior provenances.

For this senior it was a tense time.
The wife was 6 months pregnant with our first child and full-scale nuclear war was imminent.

But, only yesterday he said he will not copulate with a rat! :)
Esquire: "Let me be clear: Donald Trump may be a rat, but I have no desire to copulate with him." A church mouse perhaps?
