I don't think that Christy helps the supposed Trump ticket. He would be a "serious" choice for AG though.

From the reporting, it sounds like it was mostly spite directed at Rubio. Given Christie's well known love of lashing out ("It's time for some traffic problems in Ft. Lee..."), him throwing his weight around to sink Rubio sounds like typical Christie.

Didn't Trump already say that he wants Oprah to be his VP? :-/ Why would he pick a politician? He got where he is in this race without ever having served in elective office. Or maybe he'll pick Meg or Marissa.
