The family of Richard Pananian (20) were concerned about some "health issues". Being old world Armenians, they decided to sacrifice a lamb in his name to ask God to protect him from harm.

A few days later, he was driving to his new job, obviously at excessive speed. He rear-ended a pickup. His car rolled up an embankment, and back down (and by "roll" I don't mean on its wheels).

Pananian's car had a 5-point racing seatbelt, but apparently it was not in use. Pananian was ejected with such force his body was found atop a freeway sign, a good 20 feet above the ground. They had to recover it using a fire department hook and ladder.

This may serve to discourage future lamb sacrifices around here - this one definitely didn't work.

Lamb sacrifices are traditional in Armenia, but are uncommon here in Western Armenia (also known as Glendale). They are officiated by a priest of the Armenian church. The church isn't in favor of them, either here or in Armenia, but are expected to officiate by tradition. The lamb meat is donated to charity.
