You might find it easier to create your base configurations and store them
using DriveImage. Then, refresh your base images as needed and use
VMWare to host/test them.

This approach has worked well to create base images that contain various
OSes, service pack levels, browsers, IDE versions, app server versions, etc.
Only down side.....reversing/reclaiming the base/clean images can take time
- sometimes 2 hours. Otherwise, workable in a windoze-world.
