It's not your opinion, you're just wrong.

Good, but she's wrong.
And yes, sometimes scientific or historical data is wrong or unclear or in need of further examination. Everyone knows water expands when it freezes. Do you know why it does that when literally nothing else in the world does? Nope, and neither does science. That's wrong. Gallium expands (quite a lot) on freezing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJMEhdvz1BY (2:46) I believe there are other things that do as well. Cheers, Scott. |

Also this:
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/Chemical/waterdens.html "The expansion upon freezing comes from the fact that water crystallizes into an open hexagonal form. This hexagonal lattice contains more space than the liquid state." I thought that this had been figured out decades ago, tbh. |

Not to mention

That's what I get for being distracted by the picture. :-) Thanks.

So, which one of you went "mansplaining" to this guy?
The article has been updated: "Everyone knows water expands when it freezes. Do you know why it does that? Where the "related article" is titled It’s Weird How People Correct Me When They Think I’m a Woman. (I notice the URL to the explanation, in the follow-up article, is the exact one PW supplied below...) -- Christian R. Conrad Same old username (as above), but now on iki.fi (Yeah, yeah, it redirects to the same old GMail... But just in case I ever want to change.) |
