Ask any band that was part of the "British Invasion" in the 60s, and they'll tell you how musicians like B.B. King and other great bluesmen strongly influenced their style of music.

New saw bb king live 3 times, once in the early 1970's
once in the 1980's and again in the 1990's. Awesome show

I knew that one ;-) No need for the NYT here. Just turn up "Lucille" and listen to B.B. ramble through history, all the way from the plantations to the top. That is what made him so good, IMHO, not just his guitar play and music, he was a great story teller.
