Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Did my duty and voted.
In SC I'll be surprised if anyone or anything I voted for will win, but it's not because I stayed home.

The Sun City community (in Indian Land, SC), with a fair number of Northern transplants, had a pretty good turn out. It could be a small island of sanity, but on the other hands it's also a population that's set in their ways.

Off topic, but something I learned recently, is why Indian Land has the name it does. When the Catawba tribe made deal a deal with the Crown this area was part of the Catawba reservation. In the 1800's, when the tribe was down to less that 200 members, the State of South Carolina got them to agree to reduce the reservation to about a square mile in exchange for what became a piddling annual cash payment.

New Thanks for doing so.
There seemed to be a pretty good turnout at our precinct. I was #506 at 9:30 this morning - no waiting for me (I missed the rush).

I can't stand the coverage that's on TV at the moment. I'm just checking the web occasionally, listening to Sirius-XM.

Fingers crossed!

Cheers,
Scott.
New #197 at 9:15
Which seems decent for our precinct at that time.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.

New Only because I had a doctor's appt at 8:15 ;-)

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New 4:30 pm
I leave for work at 6 am. No biggie. My vote doesn't count whether I vote in the morning or afternoon. The repubs have the state so gerrymandered that they have a lock on the process. Still, again, I voted, so I am allowed to bitch.

New Make that...
If you voted and you're guy/gal/issue won, you have no right to complain. If you picked the loser, then you can complain!

New No.
If you vote, you're stating that the process is legitimate. It isn't. You participated in the effort to legitimize an illegitimate process. You've no right to complain. I disagreed with George about this for years, but now I see he was correct all along.
New You're being awfully binary tonight.
Democrats aren't pushing personhood amendments.

There's an awful lot more to the law and civil society than what you're railing against tonight.

Venting is fine and good, but have some perspective, Ok?

Voting is vital. People died so that we would have the right to vote.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Oh, crud.
You're back on the "well, this side is fractionally less bad about {item1} so ignore all the other similarities.".
It's not flying any more. The system needs MAJOR overhaul. And it won't happen from the inside. WE have to do it.
It's going to be messy.

New Yes, things need to change.
They're not going to change by people staying home.

Squeaky wheels and all that.

Cheers,
Scott.
