a corrupted protected storage?

I had to "verify" an install by booting to the installation media in recovery mode... Icky.

One of my W2K report servers wouldn't work. Found out it had been turned on, gotten into the boot sequence and power was shut off, about a hundred or so times (I would guess, that is)

Planned, unannounced, nighttime power maintenance, was the culprit. The outlets this machine was plugged into, were not on the Generator or UPS circuits, ouch. That has been corrected.

But, the overall effect was 6 hours of recovery to get the machine back up and running. In other words: Verify installation and backrev exe's, vxd's and dll's... etc. Windows update for about 300MB of downloads... re-install the applications. Turn on the apps.

Hated it!
