A lovely lampoon of our most visible and visibly-affected Puritan du jour - as Top Cop in the land of (Wars on (wars on (wars on))). I look to the elders amongst us.. for any possible small path through our current thicket of thickheads, passel of Pipsqueaks with the power usually given to Statesmen (way back when we had those). It takes a few decades for the poverty of our now almost totally-Mercantile environment to be perceived starkly! for the POS it really has become. This is much more evident to those who lived through earlier times when it was mostly the George Babbitt mentality to be watched-for. But we're now two generations past.. Prescott Bush (he of the ~~ Hitler Trading Co. and a full miniRobber Baron) and have survived 1.5 of his spawn only.. thus far. May Claire turn her obvious skills to the waiting legions of other Absurdities 2002! Ashton

Here I was chastising the "whipper snapper" for not noticing how much the SAME things are/have been... and you are simultaneously waxing nostalgic for the "good old days"... :-) Okay, so he's not going after "the mob" in this round of puritanism, but these Secs (sex?) of State/Homeland Security poobah, etc... always find some type of puritanical bandwagon to jump on. Some wholesome, pollyanna, white bread cause to pose next to the children, puppies and apple pie... As I dust off more and more of my old CD's (okay, so they're re-issues), the more I have come to the conclusion that we suffered from Chicken Lickin syndrome in the '60's... Go tell Goosey Loosey there Ashton, THE SKY IS FALLING... Mayhaps? Just substitute terrorism for communism and the schoolkids get to waste ten minutes a week hiding under their desks. I really WANT to wax nostalgic about some decade/epoch in my life, but they've all pretty much sucked politically. Adlai died when I was 4... What in the hell am I talking about?
