Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Mt Veeder
There's a route here that takes you up to about 1400 ft over the valley, the drops you down to Dry Creek Rd. The fun bit, though, is the Oakville Grade descent to the valley floor. Serious bits of climbing, had a good bit of wind out of the west, a bit on the cool side, probably high 50s, low 60s, a bit chilly on the downhill through the shade. Took the Oakville Cross Road out to Silverado Trail for lighter traffic (and broader shoulders) back into Napa.
  • Total distance: 38.9 miles
  • Time: 2:30:12
  • Avg speed: 15.5. A bit low, but this is some heavy climbing.
  • Max speed: 53.5. Did I mention that descent and the tailwind? Being a lardass hath its benefits. I was cranking 44 mph steady on the flat at the end of the drop.

New Sounds tops!
I went for a walk t'other day to Rockdale via Brighton-le-sands and back, visited six suburbs in two and a half hours, no idea how many kilometres though. Top speed: Not a lot. Was nice walking along the beach though, even though winter is starting to poke its head round the corner.
On and on and on and on,
and on and on and on goes John.
New Nice!
That sounds like fun. 46 mph was my max speed last year; 53.5 sounds like so much fun!

I did 115 total this weekend. Tired and sore today. I hope as time goes on I'm not this sore after a weekend of riding.

New re AIDS ride..
Heard that a ~56 yo. rider suffered a heart attack in a local ride for raising funds. :( General condolences, as it must be a bit of a bummer - anticipated as usual near-perfectly by our French amis,

Let no good deed go unpunished.

Who supposes this as good a way to go as any, while evading the processing of the local HMO-machine ...
New Need $ by when?
Won't be able to deliver it in person this year, but still plan to donate for the ride.

I finally put a deposit down on the S2000. When I first talked to the dealer I was told the car would be arrive late July/early August. When I put the deposit down a week later, the arrival date was end of May/early June. While earlier is nice, I'm now scrambling to get the rest of the downpayment together.

New Mid-June
Cut-off date for donations showing up in my account before the AIDSRide itself is like June 15th. If I don't have my minimum of $2500 by then, then I get to wait in a long line on July 21.

I've currently got $150, and there are 61 days until the Ride.

New Convenient donate button
I see that they accept American Express(however, I had to fill out everything to view the payment options - can you suggest they list acceptable payment options on the first page?). AMEX is the only plastic I'm using nowadays. I think my billing cyle starts around the 8th of each month, so I'll do my donation after that but before the 15th.

New Re: Convenient donate button
I can suggest it, but I don't think it'll do any good. Pallotta TeamWorks contracts out their web site stuff to third parties. I'll see what I can turn up.

And thank you for your future donation. :)

New Sweet!
I think I might have to make a trip sometime for that. I would consider bringing you along, Karsten, but you're bad luck for me. I seem to fall off my bike often in your presence...

Wouldn't want *THAT* to happen at 62 miles an hour...
