Welcome to IWETHEY!

New OK, now I've got a problem . .
My "All OS/2" client needs to run a Windows95 program on one of his PCs. Looked like VPC would be just the ticket. Big problem!

VPC requires Fixpack-13 or later (Warp 4.5). My client is at Fixpack-12 because he runs a bunch of DOS programs. Some commercial DOS programs (including one he runs intensively) slow down to an unusable crawl when Fixpack-13 or beyond is applied.

Do any of you guys know the cause of this slowdown and how to fix it?

New Just some thoughts. Try ODIN? Contact Innotek?
[link|http://odin.netlabs.org/|ODIN] is the Win32 to OS/2 translation project. Maybe their Win95 app will work sufficiently well under ODIN.

You might try contacting the folks at [link|http://www.innotek.de/products/virtualpc/virtualpcgeneral.html|Innotek] (the porters of VPC to OS/2) to see if they know what the problem with FP-13 is.

HTH.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Runs under ODIN, but not well enough
Under ODIN, the video gets a little screwed up (annoying, but almost tolerable). Scroll bars don't appear (crippling, since the program screens long lists), the registration module doesn't start, (which limits you to 10 uses), and OS/2 doesn't necessarily run very well after exiting.

Have thought of contacting Innotek, and will if other leads don't pan out soon.

New Re: OK, now I've got a problem . .

With regard to the slowdown... does he use ATI video cards?

If you could post the DOS settings he uses for his program object, it might help in figuring out what's going on with that as well...
