Music.
So, since I've completely lost 100% of the music I once had... 1) 1 our of 3 files were 0 length attributed to a stupid raid array and a Linux kernel MDRAID backport bug in Debian and 2) a Pre-Flood Taiwan drive array failed 2 out of 4 drive in short succession (a RAID5 with hot spare, failed one stripe member and during the re-sync, about 98% done... second stripe member dies)
Does anyone have the old list of music I sent around once... I never kept that??? Admin? drook? MVitale?
Second, my tastes of primary music haven't changed, the extra stuff has. Anyone have any good suggestions?
Current likes include: Rush Satriani Rammstein Rob Zombie Will Smith (yes I know)
Once very similar
many 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s "pop of the time" bands
General Rock, some early Rap... like "Supersonic" ones like "M.A.R.R.S."
Pretty much anything "well produced" I'll listen to.
Bluegrass, Drum/Beats, Electro, House... I'll listen to it.
One exception: "50s-80s" Country and Western music, hate it. In the 90s and after it changed.
Any suggested favorites I should look for?
Since I am rebuilding my collection and spending coin on it.

And next, which motor oil is best? ;-)
Sorry to hear about the 0-s.
My primary taste is blues, so most of the stuff in my collection sounds (or is...) a tad older. However, here's a couple of shots:
Creedence Clearwater Revival should need no intro; The Blasters - early '80s rockabilly, and apparently still around. Made it into a few soundtracks; Jerry Lee Lewis - can hardly walk now, but the man still knows his way around a piano Queen - one of the few male leads who could actually sing... Bonnie Raitt - blues/rock slide guitar Susan Tedeschi - definitely inspired by Bonnie, good enough to jam with Clapton and BB King but sadly appears to have halted her solo career. Los Lobos - Just a band from East LA. (Almost forgot. Oops)
Tangerine Dream - electronic Gary Numan - electro-pop pioneer Eurythmics - 80s electro-pop. Annie Lennox has one of the best voices still around
And a couple of Aussies (ran into both back in Belgium. Excellent small scale live shows): Dave Hole - ferocious slide guitar blues, Ganga Giri - drum/beats + didgeridoo
And I've plugged Triggerfinger here before :-)

Dang...
Thanks a bunch! That thing was nearly full!
Some new stuff I've not sampled is included... I see what you really like though.
Hehe!
I owe you... you want the thing back? or some remuneration?

It's not all mine.
Lots of the stuff is J's. The bad stuff. ;-)
No need to send it back - use it for a backup or something. Or pay it forward. :-)
Have fun!
Cheers, Scott.

I was thinking...
really "America (The Book)" being a sneaky one you slid in there.
Mind you... I've read the front cover and back cover, so I know what it all encompasses.

Also.
You only had 3 files?
Ah, that's retro computing, all right.
"We done got three files. One for me, one for the wife, and one for Sundays and Christmas."
But seriously - perhaps ditch the idea of maintaining a large offline library and finally sign up for Spotify/Pandora/Xbox Music/Whatever?
(I've got ~100GB of choonz locally, but since paying £5/mo to Teh Ebil Micorsfot gets me ALL THE TUNES*, I've radically diversified what I listen to.
Downside: I don't listen to stuff in as much depth as I used to.)
*It is said that Xbox Music's catalogue is about twice the size of iTunes'. Even the dodgy single put out by my mate's pub band is on it. And if that's on it, then just about everything else is.

I'm coming around to this...
Especially since we're considering T-Mobile, which has free music streaming.

I bought a DAB+ radio.
Unfortunately, DAB+ coverage is only the major cities in Au, but the station I listen to also has a smartphone app. It has almost no advertising, due to their funding model. (I listen to SBS PopAsia.) Wade.
