My theory is that between motivated Tea Party types and Democrats who "crossed the line", as they can in Virginia, the regular Republicans got swamped and Cantor lost.
Come the election, the Democrats will vote for another professor from Randolph-Macon College and some pissed off Republicans will vote against Brat as well and he will go down in flames. Or, so one can hope.
