New Normal humans don't understand links
I tried to do a follow-up to an earlier recipe: http://cooklikeyourg...make-slider-buns/

First line of the directions is a link. Comments show people didn't get it.

I guess next time I reproduce the whole thing.

New put a note after the link
(Click on the blue link)
New Re: Normal humans don't understand links
You have to be blatant. (include a parenthetical reason to click and make it blink or drastically change the color) Use ### or *** surrounding it.

Even then... look at this:

I get e-mails and comments on forums all the time for the Red Comments on #7. Stupidity abounds and it breeds itself.

New I think I see the problem.
If you skim through the article quickly, you don't see much difference between the black text and the red text with the linky. Especially if you're not expecting a linky. There isn't much contrast here (Chrome in a Winders laptop with default 100% text size).

The old convention of underlining links may have looked old-fashioned, but it had advantages.

Blue might be a better link color for you (though it probably clashes with your theme) - http://www.w3.org/WA...ink-contrast.html

Cheers,
Scott.

New Think I'll turn underlining on

New Curve Ball:
Red text means "no link, but there prolly should be" on Wikipedia.

Dunno if this will/should influence your decision-making.
New Hadn't thought of that
Though I suspect the people who would know that aren't the ones having problems.

New Like the others said...
... it's just not obvious enough. Probably your audience are expecting an explicit "click here" phrase in the text.

New Just turned underlining on
Going to check pages-per-visit stats in a week or so, see if it's changed.
