(include a parenthetical reason to click and make it blink or drastically change the color) Use ### or *** surrounding it. If you skim through the article quickly, you don't see much difference between the black text and the red text with the linky. Especially if you're not expecting a linky. There isn't much contrast here (Chrome in a Winders laptop with default 100% text size). The old convention of underlining links may have looked old-fashioned, but it had advantages. Blue might be a better link color for you (though it probably clashes with your theme) - http://www.w3.org/WA...ink-contrast.html Cheers, Scott. (Who isn't color-blind.)
