Volkswagen recently announced details of the US market all-electric E-Golf model, which will be released in select states at the end of this year. The E-Golf is VolkswagenÂs first all-electric model to be sold in the United States, and signifies the brandÂs dedication to becoming the leader in e-mobility among automakers by 2018. Powered by a 115hp electric motor, the E-Golf offers an average range of 70-90 miles and maximum range of 115 miles through use of Lithium-ion batteries co-developed with Panasonic, and can be fully recharged in just four hours. Other notable features of the US market E-Golf are LED headlights, additional touchscreen systems monitoring functionality, aerodynamically enhanced exterior features.
I hope it's a success.
I also hope it's less than $30k (a Nissan Leaf starts at $29k, a Prius Plug-in starts at $30k)...
Cheers,
Scott.
