Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Haven't read Kunstler in a while, decided to check him out.

Barack Obama, who I voted for twice, is on his way to becoming the worst US president in my lifetime, at least — and maybe in the whole cavalcade going back to the very start of the republic.

[...]

Strange to relate, I actually might feel more comfortable if Vladimir Putin was massing troops on the Mexican side of the US border to keep Americans safe from our own bungling and destructive government.

Wow. He's still got that trolling thing down.

:-/

Cheers,
Scott.
New Not sure what the problem is.
It IS arguable that GWB might have been worse. Obama, however, is doing more lasting damage to his alleged constituents than he is to furriners (although he is exporting them at a much higher rate.)He is clearly the most supine president I have EVER seen.
The point about Kerry stands; one should NOT be implementing the operational stage of a project before the design phase is complete. Pretty basic. Unless the design phase is "do what you are told by your masters". Which looks to be the case.
The Putin thing is over the top, but if one allows for irony, it's not going to trip and fall. Putin is just doing what we've been doing since WWII. It's his back yard. If we want him to fail, we should applaud him trying to become an oil based cleptocracy like us. We're down the tubes in 10 years. If he has no constraints, he may beat us.
In a race to the bottom, I would not consider that admirable, but then, I'm neither Russian or Republican. Oh well...

New not entirely unsympathetic to Kunstler
...but by now he's way, way to personally invested in his end-of-the-world scenarios. He's going to feel more and more betrayed by events when civilization persists in eluding the various prescribed apocalypses he's set out for us. Disappointing as Obama might be, anyone who would single him out as the worst "going back to the very start of the republic" has been seduced by his own rhetoric into losing all sense of historical proportion.
