New Stuck in Philadelphia
A former colleague and some time Facebook correspondent went to conference in Philadelphia last weekend (I smartly skived off) and is stuck there until Atlanta thaws sufficiently to let her plane land.

New UNCA closed.
They had "two inches of snow" and that was sufficient to close the university.
New Re: snowmageddon2014
Well, given global warming and all, there was no need to buy all them snowplows! :) A rare commodity in the South in any case.

We've had 1-2 inches here in Indian Land, so no problem. Not that I left the house by car. Wouldn't want to compete with SUV drivers that think they somehow have more wheels on the ground.

“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

-- Isaac Asimov
New One can't do too much about ice.
Georgia is sorta notorious for ice storms. With that much traffic, gridlock was the only possible result.

We only got 2 inches of powder this morning. The commute in the DC area (by car or Metro) was bad in a lot of areas, but was no problem for us (for a change).

Hang in there!

Cheers,
Scott.
New I am hanging just fine
my commute is from the bedroom to the basement :-) however had tinned sardines with diced green peppers on pilot bread for breakfast meat because I was too lazy to thaw out sausages last night. The privations I have to endure sometimes. At least the death march is over for this quarter. Time for some languid thinking and catch up with some reading.
