New It sounds messed up
when did this abuse start, after he became a family lawyer? Or when he was a child? If after becoming a lawyer the abuse started, why didn't he just simply get out and leave? Lawyers get good enough money to get their own place, plus he could have gotten a court order against his father to stay away from him.

Social Security Disability he could live on plus whatever he had saved up from being a sucessful lawyer. He just couldn't live the same style of lving he had when he was a lawyer.
