I made this point many years ago in response to the late Bill P (who took this to be a badge of anti-Americanism), but it bears repeating: in the light of the last decade of US foreign policy, any Iranian government not working to get to within a "screwdriver turn" of nuclear weapon capability would be guilty of malpractice. Moreover, little the US has done since 1945 allows it access to the moral high ground from the pit it dug itself in August of that year. We ain't in a position to tut-tut anyone, and likely won't be in the lifetime of the youngest grandchild of the youngest IWT member. More power to the mullahs. The Israelis could do with a strategic counterweight.
cordially,
