He didn't like them.

He told me his cholesterol was 200-220 mg/dl for decades, then it dropped substantially when he was on the statins but he had side effects (that I don't recall) so he didn't stay on them very long.

I have similar cholesterol numbers when I don't exercise for an extended period. I've told my doc that I have no interest in taking them, so we'll have to see if he decides I can't put them off much longer...

My old boss was convinced that the only way he could get his cholesterol down was to drink 2 glasses of red wine a day. It seemed to help him quite a bit, but of course there are risks in being a regular drinker (certain cancers).
