Someone got a a JOOOOB at...
a Really Nice Company and for some (I heard) serious scratch... and it is only 1/2 hour drive against traffic for this person!
Shout out your responses to this awesome person that was let go 2 and 1/2 years ago today from the previous job.
You all should see him now... he is thin as a whip and really is getting to be in great shape!
I wish I had that endurance!

Yup, I was laid off 2 1/2 years ago today, and just accepted an offer at Digital Globe (satellite imaging company). It's a Linux/Oracle/Java/Ruby shop. I couldn't be happier, and I start Aug 12.
Excuse me while I freak out for awhile!

Started today, drinking from the firehose.
Think I'm gonna like it. Pretty laid back environment, most people in jeans/Tshirts, some even in shorts/flipflops. I'll probably go the jeans route and commute on the motorcycle as it gets 50-55mpg compared to 16-18 in my pickup.
