New for our hockey fans

Multiplication quizzes might never be the same in Chicago.

One Chicago-area third-grader was presented the sometimes-tricky “9x9” multiplication problem, so she offered a creative -- and correct -- answer. “Hossa” was scribbled under the ominous 9x9, as in Marian Hossa, No. 81 for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Christine Mech, the teacher and a Blackhawks fan, knew what was up but wanted to make sure her student knew the correct answer, writing "What is this?" Maggie Ciara -- the coolest third-grader this side of the Mississippi -- confirmed to her teacher that she put Hossa instead of the more boring but still correct 81.

Satan (impatiently) to Newcomer: The trouble with you Chicago people is, that you think you are the best people down here; whereas you are merely the most numerous.

New I hope it was luck.
Didn't get to see anything after the goahead goal. I sure hope the Wings don't pull a Leafs this year.
New I was in flight the whole game, just checked the score when
I got home.

New on cable; couldn't watch it
Game 7 will probably be the same. At least Sunday's game was on free tv.

New Don't know how big a fan you are, but, ...
I think it was actually box that told me about this several years ago. They've really, really improved things now. hockeystreams splat com is your friend. If you have a Roku device, it works on that as well. There's also a droid app. Best $100/year I ever spent. All Junior, AHL, and NHL games with no blackouts. I usually watch the Canadian streams, but you can watch the NBC streams *and* the games on the NHL network. Best of all, as long as your external IP addy is the same, you can launch as many games simultaneously as you want. So when the playoffs started (I'm a fairly big Grand Rapids Griffins fan) I had one on the tv, one on my pad and two on my computer going at the same time. Built-in DVR and a "vault" of previously played games. You pick: full game, highlights or condensed game. You could sign up for less than a year and I think they ran a playoff special. At any rate, hopefully you'll only be interested in one more game this year. ;0)
New That's some serious hockey watchifying. Zooks! :-)
