If the shooter wanted you (that target) dead, the shooter would have had to expend a lot more energy to get the target (you) that way... As it was, involvement in the shooter's action was a (muti-) trigger pull to ignite and expend the powder to expel the bullets. MUCH easier than chopping down the door and then chop the target up close and personal. Much cleaner and easier to kill from a distance...

Steenkamp was shot in the head, hip, arm and hand.

While all of what we know is just what has been fed to the press thus far, it still looks like his gun was the cause of her death. The cricket bat could have been used afterward for all we know. :-(

They lash out with weapons in ways that they wouldn't when they weren't upset. Pistorius shot his girl friend with a gun. She's dead. If he didn't have a gun in the house, he wouldn't have fired a gun at her, and she wouldn't be dead. Now, she's dead, and he's likely to spend many years in prison.
