Just a little bit.

Spent the morning in court. Watched one person after another lie to the judge about why they missed the previous date and he decided how much to charge them for contempt.

I've missed quite a few of them in the last 25 years.

When it was my turn, he asked the same question.

I paused, looked thoughtfully for a second, fingertips lightly clasped in front of me, gave a slight smile and said:

Well, you honor, I used to be young and dumb and now I'm old and scared.

He gave me the minimum fine.
