Welcome to IWETHEY!

New No...
It does not draw 2 AMPS.

The friggin thing can be powered via a computer's USB port.

BUT... they do suggest using the 5V power cord with it.

Power Supply(Adapter): DC 5V 2A (Providing more stable electric current)

While yes its a 2A adapter, from the looks of it, it nearly exactly the same charger my Droid-X had which also said 2A. I was again, able to charge my Android by my USB computer port on my laptop.

My SGN (Samsung Galaxy Nexus) charger is a tiny little thing also says its 2A output on 5V. Not over those wires supplied with it.

The guy is an idiot... I'm sure his TV was nearly ready to puke anyway. I mean hell if Hard Drives can be USB powered, they have surge current *WAY* up there... he was doing it wrong.

New Umm.. so What About the (one-of-only TWO) 'reviews'
in which teh guy describes palpable-destruction of his Tee Vee's "500 ma-MAX" internal P.S.?
Eh? And with symptoms of just what a valiant 4X-Over-drawn small PS would likely do ... before repetition bricked-it.

(I'm no candidate for obv. reasons, but also appreciate the insanely-great/compact specs of this teensy dongle.)
But it seems that the supplier--unwilling to PAY for direct consequences of its use--is ALSO "looking for a "2 AMPERE" Solution to Their Problem
(and the customer's.) At very least Mfg. should state: *MUST* be used with included PS; NOT suitable for Std. 500 mA USB design.
Who is WRONG here?

Did you put an ammeter in-series and TEST? Jeez, yer a bloody-EE: you take some sales-flack's WORD about a product?
(If the teensy case is touted as a 'heat sink', sure SOUNDS like >500 mA happening inside.)
What am I missing in this tale?

My Faith: there are NO Mysteries in "E=IR"--only in people who have no clue are there 'mysteries".

Carrion.
New Most power supplies I know about...
In these kinds of devices, have auto-shutdown on over current.

Must be these bargain basement HDTV setups must be missing that feature.

I just went out and looked at my HDTV... mine says a maximum or 500ma as well.

The stuff I've looked at all say they can run on 500ma easily... I mean its just a friggin Android device without the phone parts. How the heck does one of those Phone work for more than 10 minutes if they need 500ma let alone 2A...

I dunno. Stupidity abounds IMO...

Like I said before, my Galaxy has a "2A" power supply... but the phone can easily be charged by my USB ports on my laptop or other USB ports. Plus, using 2A over the size of that wire... not likely.
