New Interesting.
Looks like Java's further along in their compilation technology than the CLR. Not that I'm surprised - if anything, it surprised me that Java seemed behind to me.

Went back and did some testing, and lo and behold - the only thing "slow" about Java was Swing. No surprise there, and since the CLR has direct hardware acceleration of the display, and Swing is just a straight bitmap blitter, I'm not surprised.
