Can it be that our home-grown Christianists
...as they piously prate about our sacred First Amendment rights and snicker condescendingly at these swarthy foreign fanatics, have forgotten the foaming and fulminating and threats that accompanied the release of The Last Temptation of Christ in 1989? Lots of God-botherers got their knickers in a twist both at home and abroad (The Archbishop of Paris said at the time ÂOne doesn't have the right to shock the sensibilities of millions of people for whom Jesus is more important than their father or mother, although to his credit he deplored the subsequent firebombing of a Parisian cinema during a screening of the film).
I can hardly wait for the rich bouquet of cognitive disconnect that will accompany the next "Piss Christ."
