I saw it on FRI in IMAX 3D
yes there are some holes but that so they can do more movies about this
it was the first movie I saw in IMAX 3D I did love that

The ending leaves two entirely different threads that could be followed, plus a pile of general unanswered question.

One of the nicer things about the movie is that it does explain a bit about the Alien timeline without actually answering any of the core questions. Too many movies in this situation get caught up in the big reveal, and it is usually a let down. This one just pushes the questions around a bit.
