Real sad.
I stumbled across it on FB, too. Makes the one Beep Bash I made it to all the more special.

Very sad. :-( Condolences to Rita and his family.
Cheers, Scott. |

This was who my post was about.
I wasn't able to tell anyone. Though I'm sure most of you thought it was Laura that had the Cancer.
My last discussion with him was in e-mail over the downtime of here on the 12th of March. Here is the last status update he told me, the rest is chit chat: ---------------------- Getting treated at md Anderson for couple more days. The cancer has blocked my intestines so I am getting fed intravenous. When we get home I will start chemo to see if that will clear the obstructions. ---------------------- Evidently the obstructions weren't cleared and the chemo probably never was really started. http://iwt.mikevital....iwt?postid=57909 |

awe man :-(
Wish I'd have known, I'd have gone to visit him. MD Anderson's less than 30 minutes from my home.

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow |

the suddenness hurst the most
I didn't really have the time to mentally come to terms with this knowledge.
Goodbye Bill; we'll never debate again, and I will miss that. "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... Re: http://www.facebook.com/bepatient
I am stunned. And for once, speechless.
|

Quite too soon, indeed :-\
A generous man; always assumed there'd be time (even at this land-distance) to get beyond recreational debating of the inconsequential.
Alas, Time stays. We go. Pace, pace.. Law above fear, justice above law, mercy above justice, love above all. |

I agree
I wasn't kidding or kissing up when I told him he was a role model for me in many areas, even when I loudly disagreed on a given point.
He'll be missed by many. |

And does it has to be RIP?
In his case, PARTY your ass off with recently re-united family members while waiting for the next group to arrive.

Re: http://www.facebook.com/bepatient
I was so sad to hear this. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
|
|
geez...
(posted from out of town) I had no idea. Always assumed there'd be another Beep Bash I'd eventually attend; took for granted that notwithstanding the streams of doctrinal venom passed back and forth over the years I'd have been welcome in meatspace. He'll be missed. Forty-seven is way too young.

Re: http://www.facebook.com/bepatient
Coming in off of the (much appreciated) email that Greg sent out. And yes, I'm horribly saddened to hear this. I only made it out for one beep bash, but he'll be missed.

Thought it was getting quiet around here :-(

last time I saw him was at the end of january
at skips bd bash. We talked for a while that his gut was bothering him, they had ruled out pancreatic but needed more test. It was going to either benign or really bad. I got an email from him on the 16th that his situation sucked.......
I am really going to miss him Any opinions expressed by me are mine alone, posted from my home computer, on my own time as a free American and do not reflect the opinions of any person or company that I have had professional relations with in the past 55 years. meep
