![]() I suspect the parts of the world mentioned in the story make much lighter use of antibiotics than we do here. The mechanism they describe -- untrained "doctors" prescribing the wrong drugs, and not enough of them, and not long enough -- seems entirely sufficient to cause this.
It's just a matter of time until we breed our own resistant bugs. --
