Sounds like a fucked up junction point.
Grab a copy of the SysInternals tools and see what's going on.

![]() Combofix created a restore point and left it on the C drive. I ran it again and it cleaned it up. I found the junction point info while I was googling but it said junctions didn't cross volumes, so I didn't investigate further. From the command line, you can't even see the thing. Explorer shows it as a blue icon, rather than a folder symbol. Interesting, but it took care of itself.
