that Saddam Hussein had WMDs, and got them so riled up that they whole-heartedly endorsed the attack and occupation of a country for the next 10 years.
That's just for starters.
They CONNED the people into believing
that Saddam Hussein had WMDs, and got them so riled up that they whole-heartedly endorsed the attack and occupation of a country for the next 10 years.
That's just for starters. "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow |

Re: They CONNED the people into believing
I suppose all the democrats in Congress and the White House were just as feeble as the american sheeple.

how many Democrats were in the WH in 2003?
Any number you give greater than ZERO is a lie.

All categorical statements are false.
Including this one.

how is being in the Cabinet = being in the White House?
I do not agree with that equation.

"White House" is common short-hand for "Administration".
|
|
I took it literally
and it would be pretty much impossible for an incoming president to remove EVERY member of the opposing party from all leadership positions in the federal government.
But this only goes to prove my point: Dubya CONNED Democratic politicans, along with the American people, over Saddam's possession of WMDs. "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. You're missing the point.
Beep is playing his "both sides" card - that is, in his view, both sides contributed to the problem. (Of course, the amount of blame isn't equal, but that is rarely a subject of debate in Beep's posts. ;-)
There was a Democrat in Bush's administration (not a career government employee - a political appointee appointed by W), and many Democrats in Congress supported Bush's policies. Those are facts. I agree with you that the Republican party is basically insane now and I agree that they are responsible for most of the damage done during the 2000s. But you need to be more careful in constructing your arguments if you want to persuade anyone. Don't bludgeon your readers. ;-) My $0.02. Cheers, Scott. |

Nah. He was always battling the Leftist windmills.

Not really
the "campaign" on WMD possession started during a DEMOCRATIC administration, before W was even President.
So unless the point is that W did all of this whitewashing when he was Gov of Texas or part owner of a baseball team...then all this is revisionist history. Sure, understanding today's complex world of the future is a little like having bees live in your head. But...there they are.

Re: You're missing the point.
That comes from 15 years of living in Texas with all of the Birthers/Tenthers/ultra-conservatives/Fox News only watchers. I've tried for years to reason with them, to no avail. Thus I turn to the nuclear option as first choice. Besides, it's more fun that way. "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... Well, they were given the information
that Dubya, Cheney and Rumsfeld wanted them to see.
Hans Blix said that there were no WMDs in Iraq, but the Dubya administration said that there were, so who do you believe? "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. Oh, I get that.
It's just that writing "RepubliCON" makes me ignore everything after that word.
In the same way that I instantly tire of reading "Camoron" or "Millipede" in threads about British politics. It's childish and just renders the content instantly too partisan to be arsed with. |

Lincoln isnt partisan, he is strictly slash and burn
