New Wow... just um, Wow.
I FB friended this guy just on this post alone:

http://lolgod.blogsp...christianity.html

I'm striking up a good discussion with him in messages. He is a very SCHMAHT GUY!
New Yup. Interesting site, too.
Wildly uneven, but I liked this one:

Anyone want to prove or disprove those numbers?
New That doesn't pass the smell test.
You can get 93% if you misread this table - http://www.stephenja...news/file002.html

HTH.

Cheers,
Scott.
New So it should have been 72.2, right?
New Note the caveats.
The results are from those who agreed to respond to the questions - only 50-60% here. That may skew the results.

Our chosen group of "greater" scientists were members of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). Our survey found near universal rejection of the transcendent by NAS natural scientists. Disbelief in God and immortality among NAS biological scientists was 65.2% and 69.0%, respectively, and among NAS physical scientists it was 79.0% and 76.3%. Most of the rest were agnostics on both issues, with few believers. We found the highest percentage of belief among NAS mathematicians (14.3% in God, 15.0% in immortality). Biological scientists had the lowest rate of belief (5.5% in God, 7.1% in immortality), with physicists and astronomers slightly higher (7.5% in God, 7.5% in immortality).

[...]

Because of the relatively small size of NAS membership, we sent our survey to all 517 NAS members in those core disciplines. Leuba obtained a return rate of about 70% in 1914 and more than 75% in 1933 whereas our returns stood at about 60% for the 1996 survey and slightly over 50% from NAS members [1,2].

Lumping the agnostics and "don't knows" in with the Atheists is wrong. If they wanted to be listed as atheists, they would have said so.

(There are around 2200 members of the NAS.)

One needs to be careful about drawing results from surveys.

HTH.

Cheers,
Scott.
New are they real religionists or sears religionists?
Any opinions expressed by me are mine alone, posted from my home computer, on my own time as a free American and do not reflect the opinions of any person or company that I have had professional relations with in the past 55 years. meep
New Neither, Wurzburgs religionists!
New Printing a bunch out
They will end up on the walls.

We will by lying to K (granddaughter) for a while. The Christmas tree is up, she'll be going to some type of religious schools early on due to piss-poor city schools.

And I will be there, to answer questions and point out the lies.

Yes, this makes for a poor dynamic. Too bad. I won't lie to her. So they can keep me away from her or they can accept the lies will be crumbling very early.
