![]() Everybody in the country gets a cookie and we can all stay up late tonight. Yay!
So what? We're just going to relocate to some other place and spend billions blowing up some other mope. I'm afraid the giddiness of the situation eludes me... |
|
![]() The other dictators are looking around, thinking, shit, I could be next.
So either they clamp down harder or they GTFO. And the clamp downs may trigger the next wave. |
|
![]() We installed most of them and supplied them. We LIKE dictators right up to the point that they don't give our owners^w corporations the terms they dictate^w want.
Precedent schmecedent. It's just another way for the profiteers to collect another stack of money. |

![]() I understand why you should be suspect of any of these situations, I know I am, but that doesn't stop the occasional "win" in the situation, even though it employs situational ethics.

![]() "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow |

![]() When you have a tyrant, a monster like him, weÂre all better off with him dead. Now there can be no illusion of him ever returning to power. Jiminy Fucking Shit. Right out of the Bolshevik playbook. These mother-fuckers are using the same goddamned logic that the Russians used when they murdered the Romanovs. I'll be damned. Lenin was right. The West has fallen. |
|
![]() Holy fucking shit right back at you.
Susan Cohen has been waiting for this day since shortly after her 20-year-old daughter was blown out of the sky by a terrorist bomb in 1988, allegedly at the behest of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi. So a brutal dictator engineers a remote attack that end up killing a lot of people, and you feel an emotional response from the mother of a victim is a confirmation of your political ideology. You're not too bright, are you? The laugh test doesn't only apply to religious arguments, since politics is not far removed from group-think even when god is removed. Yes, lowercase, no such thing as an uppercase one. Yup, emotional responses (and you are not the slightest bit logical here) can only be countered with the same, since it seems it is the only way to get through. 2nd edit: Corrected source of statement, content stays the same. |

![]() "You don't overcome your adversary by becoming just like him." I suppose she can fly to Libya to have her picture taken with the beaten and shot corpse on display.
|
|
![]() Except its wrong.
If you have a SINGLE adversary, and he dies, you win. And she only had one, at least in this context. Do you think she's going to go out and kill her annoying boss tomorrow since it felt so good when she got the news? Now please, go back, and try to fit it into your politics. And the quote. And your incredible personal reaction to hers. She gets a pass. She's suffered long enough, knowing the person who caused her daughter's death lives like a king and is treated like royalty by other government heads. Her suffering is done, at least that which was triggered by every Libya mention in the news. No pass for you though, at least until I find out what she's done to you to cause this level of animosity. |

![]() WTF has my post got to do with politics ferchrissakes? The treatment of Ghaddafi was barbaric. Not something that should be cheered by anyone imo. I drew the exact parallel to the barbarism of the Bolsheviks in their treatment of the Romanovs. They gave the exact, same reason for their barbarism. Doesn't justify it. And how about the freak show going on right now? "oooh. oooh. Let's go to the fridge and take our picture next to a corpse." It is disgusting.
