"Bill Gates has filed a document with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell 6 million shares of Microsoft stock. The shares are valued at about $402 million, less than 1% of the $58.7 billion Forbes estimates Gates is worth."

New He's expanding his house.
Found out it needed more bedrooms. That could account for the entire 400 million - a mere drop in the bucket.

Earlier, due to the "trouble", I understand he was selling and his wife was buying to get him below a certain threshold that would prevent him from owning shares in both companies after a split, but then the split became less likely.
