is that many of us simply don't care.

Not being on facebook doesn't protect you from the accumulation of info about you on the web...the public record can be easily scraped to get your home address, what you paid for it, your car, etc...with that out there, why the hell to I care if a marketer knows I play an occasional game of words with friends or "like" the page of my favorite band.
Sure, understanding today's complex world of the future is a little like having bees live in your head. But...there they are.

New I see an opportunity for Linked In.
They've been around for years and they *already* have paid products. If they add a "Social" tier and interfaces for prioritising networking *socially* (as well as the business-oriented way they currently do), then Facebook would have a very interesting competitor.

Would you prefer to be on a social networking site as a customer rather than the product? Tempting...
