Wasn't thinking of the flooding.
Florida - particular near the coast (my parents lived just off the Banana River), flooding isn't impossible, but unlikely. (Counterpoint: Storm surge is more likely)
But in my dad's case. The storm literal folded the roof on his porch (flat roof) in half. By itself, that was minor (nothing on the porch to be hurt), but the porch roof went UNDER the regular house roof - so it tore a nice 1' by 1' chunk out of his house roof.
That exposed the roof and the rain got in. Destroyed the ceiling and started mold going. (I remember taking 528 out to Merritt Island and seeing sailboats - sunk)
And that was Floyd, iirc. We put down tarps and used the sides of packing crates (what we could get) screwed down to prevent leaks and keep the tarps from moving. It was on TIGHT (something like 2 inch screws)
That NEXT hurricane literal tore one of those packing crate from the roof. (Luckily only one)
2004 sucked.
