Presumably mostly a bunch of rain, but one never knows. I hope it goes easy.
Cheers,
Scott.
Hey Beep. Look out for Irene.

Didn't Dixie's Midnight Runners sing about this?
|
|
That's quite a strong earworm, isn't it? Too roy eh?
|
|
No
1. the song is "Come On Eileen"
2. the group was called "Dexy's Midnight Runners". http://en.wikipedia....ki/Come_On_Eileen "Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow |

Details, details. ;-)

real programmers always care about the details ;-)

The frog is well and truly disassembled.

Ummm Sorry...
and Ilene == the Japanese pronunciation of Irene.
Dixie's Midnight Runners was a play on words... was supposed to hit Georgia... Sorry I had to explain it. |

Projected to be cat 3....at least it's turning east
for now.
I'm concerned it'll disrupt flights. I think it was Floyd that just sat there in 2004. (Sitting storms are much worse) It blocked flights for almost a week. -- On Edit - didn't see it projected up to a cat 3 already. 989 on the pressure..so far. |

that they are
Allison dumped almost 40 inches of rain on us in 6 days.
http://en.wikipedia....orm_Allison#Texas Compare this http://en.wikipedia....exas_flooding.jpg With this: http://spiceware.org.../Houston/dcp_0249 the houses on the left of both photos are the same, the ones in mine are just partial hidden by the newly installed Traffic Noise Barriers. |

Wasn't thinking of the flooding.
Florida - particular near the coast (my parents lived just off the Banana River), flooding isn't impossible, but unlikely. (Counterpoint: Storm surge is more likely)
But in my dad's case. The storm literal folded the roof on his porch (flat roof) in half. By itself, that was minor (nothing on the porch to be hurt), but the porch roof went UNDER the regular house roof - so it tore a nice 1' by 1' chunk out of his house roof. That exposed the roof and the rain got in. Destroyed the ceiling and started mold going. (I remember taking 528 out to Merritt Island and seeing sailboats - sunk) And that was Floyd, iirc. We put down tarps and used the sides of packing crates (what we could get) screwed down to prevent leaks and keep the tarps from moving. It was on TIGHT (something like 2 inch screws) That NEXT hurricane literal tore one of those packing crate from the roof. (Luckily only one) 2004 sucked. |

Expected to be a Cat 4 at 2 am Friday.
It's good it's moving farther off shore, but it's bad that it's strengthening...
http://www.wundergro...ing/at201109.html It looks like it'll come ashore as a Cat 3 in NC on Saturday night/Sunday morning, subject to revision, of course. Cheers, Scott. |
|
Damn, did the pressure drop that much?
still 980...
it could...It'll be nice if it misses Florida. I'm flying in on Thursday and wasn't sure if I'd be able to come in or not. |
|
It's changing all the time. Max Cat 3 now...
|
|
Looks like a near miss now. Phew
