Welcome to IWETHEY!

New that they are
In theory* I'll be getting a new machine later this year. I'd planned on a 17" Mac Book Pro, but the reality is I don't travel as much, and now that I have an iPad I'd probably take it instead, so an iMac might be a better buy. I do find the lack of a matte option to be a big issue though.

* My 16 year old nephew wants to play StarCraft 2 and I told him I'd sell him my late 2008 MBP for $500. I'm not buying a new system this year if he doesn't buy it.
New Hmm...
You know about MacOfAllTrades, I assume? I've never bought anything from them, but I've been tempted a few times. I don't know how good their prices are when selling stuff to them.

On the glossy screen, I haven't tried it myself, but there are places that sell "screen protector" films for iMacs. If that was the only thing holding you back, it might be worth the $30 or so. I did fairly well putting one on our iPad, but had a terrible time with a much smaller film on a recent smart-phone for my mom, so it's hit-or-miss even if you get a high quality plastic. Steve doesn't seem to be changing his mind about rarely offering non-glossy screens any time soon. :-(

FWIW. :-)

Cheers,
Scott.
New Sure do
I'd make more selling it to anybody but my nephew, but I'm not really interested in upgrading at this time as I'd rather pay off the debt (the car gets paid off next month - woohoo!).

I have a film from Photodon on my MBP. Works fairly well, though not as good as if the matte were built in. Before I put it on, I moved both of my air cleaners into my office and let them run overnight. Worked well to eliminate dust.

I'm also open to getting a Mac Pro so I can supply my own display - though I don't consider that an option until after they've upgraded them with Thunderbolt. Per MacRumors the next MP is about a month overdue (based on average days between updates).
