Welcome to IWETHEY!

New I've been looking at Denon stuff off-and-on.
In the AVR series, the last 2 digits of their model numbers indicate the year. It looks like they list at $400 and go up rapidly from there.

Lots of things to consider, unfortunately. It's probably pointless to try to futureproof the purchase - things are still changing pretty rapidly. I'd suggest listing your immediate needs, picking a budget, and not agonizing too much. I wish I could do that. ;-)

Some places seem to have that for around $325, but it might be like cameras - if it's too cheap, then you don't get a US warranty or something. Dunno.

HTH. Good luck.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Really pleased with my Denon.
I have a pre-HDMI Denon AVR-2802 7.1 receiver (making it a 2002, I suppose - that sounds about right).

I know this doesn't solve Scott's problem, but I run HDMI from DirecTV box, Apple TV, and Magnavox blu-ray to a Sony 52" LCD HDTV, and one digital audio out to the Denon. Works a treat. Have been very happy with this setup.
