The first one people are likely to take is "OMG!! Apple cant do that!!!1". :-)
The second one, and more interesting is coupled with the fact that Apple is rolling out an application store for OS X. After decades of Microsoft trying to lock people in to their technologies with a fly-paper approach, Apple is going for a more of a honeypot solution. Sun (now Oracle) supplies Java for all other platforms. They have their own release schedules, which are almost always different than ours, so the Java we ship is always a version behind. This may not be the best way to do it. Same rational makes sense for not including Flash. |
