Maybe I should go ahead and get it (just to get .NET locked out of the picture), then move to something else for app serving after the code is written...

Avast there matey, tell them about the security issues with .NET verses other frameworks. Get EJB and JSP pages ready to go instead.

If for some reason they get .NET ASP pages, hire me as a contractor to work to convert from ASP tp JSP, I'll be more than happy to learn.
