Nah.
That's actually a damn good price for a projector whose native resolution can do 1080p. For a long time, 1024x768 native started at AUD2000 and 1920x1080 native started at AUD4000 and went a long way up from there. There are still too many projectors that are 800x600 native and they're not really letting the higher resolutions fall below AUD1000.
Have a look elsewhere on that site and you'll see what I mean.

Got it! It's purdy...
The throw angle isn't as good as I was quite expecting, but that's really my faulty expectations. I had a backup arrangement, fortunately.
It's a nice, bright image that id more than bright enough with the lights on. The menu system is straightforward and there are lots of options if you want to fiddle, and several presets if you don't. Being a DLP it doesn't have the "screen-door" effect of LCD projectors, but then I'm only projecting a 66" image (it can project up to 320"). OTOH, I have already seen the "rainbow" effect, but it's not distracting. Then, too, I haven't put anything better to it than S-Video.

Congrats!
we had a DLP project at my prior job and I found the rainbow to be quite annoying. I've checked out current Mitsubishi DLP sets at Fry's and couldn't make it happen so they've definitely gotten it to work better than before. They're using a 6-color wheel instead of 3.
The method they came up with to eliminate the screen-door effect is interesting.

Yah, this is a 6-colour wheel DLP.
I'd forgotten about the rainbow effect, but I hadn't forgotten the screen-door effect. The rainbow effect is dependant on the ambient light level, too, and how fast the colour wheel spins. Obviously, faster is better. :-)
That "wobulation" idea is nifty. It's the same basic trick as interlacing.

I think that's a broken listing.
That projector should be at least ten times that listed price. Notice it's unavailable, too? :-)
The exchange rate is pretty good (it's about AUD1 = USD0.92) at the moment. But I'd be a bit worried about the shipping cost from the US.
