New Hey, these guys are Kewlish (Italian Helmet / rear-view)
OOPS.. hit Edit 'stead of Reply. Oh well - later details below.

First, they sent this note (after I'd received OK their first reply

Please advise if you received the e mail below as we are experiencing some
problems with our IT systems.

Best Regards

Dave

I replied

[IT problems? let me guess -- you're trying to run your biz on Windows™ ?! Pity; OS X just Works -- I'm typing on it.]

Yep, arrived OK.
Sales site appears to be in Blighty; I take it -- no US outlets, yet.
What ... are they even denser over 'here' than I see daily?

(I owned ~ 5 Vincents, 4 Shadows and a Comet -- in the '50s. Have hated all mirrors/mirror-locations all-along.. even on a Vincent where vibration was usually non-existent. This is a brilliant idea, if the final product matches the ad-video simulation of the actual rear-view. Too late to buy stock??)

Ashton Brown
.. and yes, I still have a personal reply from Paul Richardson at Stevenage, on a Vincent matter; alas -- no Vincent any more; (my last one would be worth about $100K USD now, had I been prescient. Oh well.)

And 'Dave' responded

Dear Ashton

Thanks for that. My Dad had a Vincent 1000 when I was a boy, used to try and Kill himself on it every weekend racing on the earliest motorways. I think he grew up once he had my two brothers and lost Bike. Too right it would have been worth a fortune today.
We are in the UK yes. We should have a DOT helmet for late September so we should have some penetration into the USA after that. Dead right about MS systems.

Best Regards

Dave

New No FOV info...
I can about imagine what is going to happen if you have to look left to see what is on your right rear and mix that with the real rear view mirror...

(And I do hope it works better than their website. Static breadcrumbs?!)
New neat - forwarded it to my BIL
New Got reply
Actual sales locale:
http://rearview-helmets.com/

One YouTube review there ... and soliciting similar.

As to scoenye's reservations ... nope, don't expect any cognitive dissonance ay-tall; in fact, the juxtaposition of the fixed-mirror view + creative head motion can add a new dimension of knowing WTF You're At, especially in incipient dodgy situations (once, that is: you have indeed done some head-turning practice and taught brain how to choose instantly the er, 'stable platform-of-reference'.) And like that.

The sucker is € 249 ... ulp. What's your bloody Liff worth?
(I'd already contemplated using one of the add-on car rear-tv thingies, but what a kluge to stick on a helmet and then find a place for the tiny screen.) I've always despised the left/right mirror dance, especially with certain helmet designs which limit peripheral field; then (unless on a Vincent) the mirrors are vibrating. Etc.

So if I keep the Kawasaki ... baby's new shoes will just have to wait. But even on a modrin scooter, preferably electric, I'd want this. Call me pre-Sold.

(Pity I didn't buy stock in this outfit; too late now)

I, omniscient. But humble.
