A spokesman from Pakistan's Foreign Office, Abdul Basit, told the BBC that Shahram Amiri was seeking immediate repatriation to Iran. There is an interesting story behind this, but I don't think we will ever know what it is. With something like this, I trust the US government story about as far as I could throw the White House, the Iranian version somewhat less. Jay
Post #329,523 by boxley 7/13/10 9:37:11 AM Reply	best guess he was sent to defect with disinformation and his job is done he defected and was living in the states but his entire extended family was arrested pending his return the us got him out, got the goods and is now disinterested and he is homesick lots of good backstory that we will never know

Shahram Amiri is not obligated to return the money but might be unable to access it after breaking off what U.S. officials described as significant cooperation with the CIA and abruptly returning to Iran. Officials said he might have left out of concern that the Tehran government would harm his family.
