Getting to be a pain in the ass being told I'm a slave.

And I'm still not clear on how such a corrupt and sinister government could be restrained by special paperwork. Especially on how the specialness of the paperwork can be transmitted from the grand cabal to the cop on the beat without there being any leaks.

Some of the contracts are a little... odd. Apparently, there is fine print on the marriage license that gives the State ownership over any children born into the marriage. Funny, I'm kind of a geek about reading fine print, and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed and remembered that clause. Also, I'm pretty sure that every single jurisdiction that issues marriage licenses has written their own version. Sure, they follow a pattern, but the exact wording is the kind of thing local government types get very passionate about having control over.

And he says that when a parent signs a birth certificate, they are signing the kid into slavery. Fine print again. And the fact that my birth certificate isn't even American (my guess is that I'm owned by France, Mexico and France having had some rather one-sided economic history, unless Cinco De Mayo took care of that) doesn't seem to make a difference.

The disturbing part is that this guy isn't obviously right-wing, or even political. A few months ago his big deal was building sailboats. He's a serious DIYer, which I think is a fine thing. I guess there is a reason this is sometimes referred to as the Paytriot Movement. He's another massage therapist, so economic factors are, shall we say, relevant.

The number of people at work who listen to this guy is scary, I hope most of them are just being polite. At best, this guy is going to end up paying lots and lots of extra taxes. Which is sad, because he's probably in the zero income tax bracket.
