![]() Unfortunately I can't come up with either name. One was a nice guy; another was an ex-IBMer (IIRC) with lots of experience and lots of strongly held opinions that you're probably thinking of. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;-) I think he left shortly after Rick Moen and a few others. :-/
He's to absent friends... Cheers, Scott. |

![]() as Box says. Probably the (ex-) Resident HK expert.
I shipped him lots of wifi gear etc. from bargain sellers who wouldn't deal ex-US in those days. Some of his expressed sentiments sent CRC into hi epicyclic kraut-gene phase at one point and Doug ceased composing his oft-historical essays from his huge experience; CRC's rhetoric isn't 256-bit, like any ad-hominem: the tirade can be turned on itself, if you care to engage. (You can prove anything via enough hyperbole. Like say, "you're too Old to comprehend my bright-young-vitriolic Mind" cha cha cha) Doug didn't care to engage on that level. Our loss, IMO. Miss Curmudgeon-1 though, especially on those topics which beggar the intellect -- like say, anything with a teabag attached. Can fire up the toy-machine and look for another addy if Box's proves vacated. Doug's HK lore is extensive == he lived there n years. Haven't heard from him in a few ... has grandchildren and other hobbies. (One of his collaborations is/was? the Cartercopter.) http://www.cartercopters.com/ I hoped that sucker would land at Santa Rosa Airport someday ... still waiting. A. PS: ever pick a mattress? :-0 PPS; [Ed] Anyone unaware of Cartercopter should enjoy their pithy 2010 summary, linked. These folks went from sketch-pad to takeoff/landing with unusual perspicuity -- with near-exponential learning curve. Dunno extent of Doug's eventual involvement, but he was there from early-on. Maybe it's time for me to check-in with Doug, too. |

![]() We did buy a mattress... Sleep EZ, from Arizona. Said mattress was installed Friday evening, and we are still formulating opinions. So far the reaction seems positive, although the mattress is a bit wobbly (being tall). We can't decide if it's too soft or too hard. :-P
