OpenCL is gaining increased adoption as systems combine CPUs and GPUs to execute certain tasks faster. IBM and Dell recently said they would offer GPUs in servers as a way to boost the performance of specific scientific and commercial applications.
Never thought the video card would become an important part of a server. I wonder if they'll offer systems with multiple GPUs that aren't connected to a video-out port. On my MacBook Pro, if I have the GeForce 9600M video enabled then OpenCL will use both the 9600M(discrete w/VRAM) and the 9400M(integrated w/shared RAM). If I have the 9400M enabled (done by selecting Graphics: Better battery life) then the 9600M is not used as it's powered down.
